History
Since its
founding is 1954, St. Ignatius Parish School has served the
families of St. Ignatius Parish and the surrounding
community. The school flourishes with a qualified and
dedicated lay faculty, a policy-making school board, and the
presence of the Jesuit fathers. St. Ignatius School boasts
many graduates who have gone on to become leaders in their
high schools, universities, and in their communities. Many
return seeking the same quality education for their own
children.
Mission Statement
St.Ignatius Parish School is a Roman Catholic Elementary
School that actively strives to teach as Jesus taught. In
the tradition of its patron, St. Ignatius of Loyola, the
educational processes of St. Ignatius School are committed
to developing students of faith, action, integrity, thought,
and health. In an environment that integrates the shared
faith and values into the life and culture of the community,
St. Ignatius Parish School provides a quality Catholic
educational experience for all its families.
Religion
Religion is
more than an area of the curriculum at St. Ignatius School.
It is what dictates every facet of the school program. From
the formal religious instruction to the prayers before
basketball games, the influence of the teachings of Christ
is pervasive. The students are taught to see Christ in
others and to respect and care for all of God's creation.
Parents are invited to worship with the students at weekday
masses and at the monthly school liturgies.

The curriculum at
St. Ignatius School is traditional and challenging while
still dynamic and creative. The kindergarten through fourth
grades are primarily self-contained classes with aides
assisting the classroom teachers part of the day. The upper
grades, fifth through eighth, are departmentalized.
Extracurricular and Co-curricular Activities
There are
many opportunities for students to participate in activities
which interest them. Two of the
most popular programs are sports and student
council.
The
after-school sports program
is one of the strongest and most inclusive in the diocese.
There are varsity and junior varsity teams in volleyball,
football, softball, track and field, and basketball. There
is a basketball program for grades 1 through 8.
The
student council
officers are elected. With the faculty moderators, they plan
and oversee many activities throughout the year. Some of the
activities are philanthropic and some are entertaining. They
sponsor fund-raising events to support the community
outreach activities.
Extended Services
The
extended services program provides supervised care for
students before and after school. The energetic staff
members coordinate homework, recreation, snack, relaxation,
and companionship for the students in their care. |
