During this time of Hybrid-Learning, we hope you all are staying
well and spending some enjoyable family time together at home.
Art is now being taught both on campus and online simultaneously,
while using the
platforms ”SeeSaw” (1st-4th)and
“Google Classrooms” (5th-8th) for
assignment instructions and
turn-in.Go to the individual grade’s
homeroom page on this website for the link to Art
Class. Please email Mrs. Domek
(bdomek@stignatiussacschool.org), with any questions regarding
distance-learning of Art. Stay healthy, happy and creative
during this time, and we look forward to seeing you all again
soon!
The St.Ignatius Parish School Art Program follows the California
State Visual Arts Content Standards. The Preschool,
Transitional-Kindergarten, and Kindergarten teachers provide
hands-on art experiences in their classrooms, so those grades
don’t go to the separate art classes in the Art Room. The First
through Eighth grade students receive additional art
instruction once a week with the art teacher in
the Art Room, an art-studio-style environment designed to
facilitate all aspects of visual art media, from viewing
reproductions of famous artworks to drawing to painting to clay
sculpting and all manner of creative expression. The
program also involves introduction to various artists, periods in
art history and cultures, art appreciation and critique, and an
annual student art show which coincides with the school’s open
house. An art club is also available to students in grades five
through eight who wish to further pursue their interest in
art (Art Club is not available during this distance-learning
time).
Note to parents: During Distance-learning, the finished art
activities may remain at home, but please attach a picture of it
onto the online Art Class platform to be graded, or it can
also be physically turned-in at the the school
office. During regular school years, most student artwork
remains stored at school until the end of the school
year so that it can be exhibited in the Art Show and on bulletin
board displays throughout the year, and also so it
won’t get crumpled in backpacks on the way home. Near the end of
the year, the students will carry their artwork home neatly in
their Paper Bag Portfolios. Please see the Art Photo Gallery for
pictures of student work as it is posted. Thank you.
We were thrilled to bring back the St Ignatius Student Art Show in 2020 in our brand new school building! We hope you were able to enjoy the exhibit, which showcased our amazing students' creative talent. We're unable to have an in-person art show in 2021To see more pictures of our past art shows, click on the Art Show Photo Gallery in the Curriculum tab.
