Academic Decathlon
Sacramento Diocese Champions 2008-2023

The Junior High Academic Decathlon is a competition for students in grades 6-8.  There are ten events.  Two are collaborative team efforts – a logic quiz with 20 rigorous thinking problems, and a super quiz with 50 multiple choice questions on five broad academic themes.  The remaining eight events test individual knowledge of the Roman Catholic doctrine, English, Literature, Science, Mathematics, Current Events, Social Studies, and Fine Arts (Art and Music).  Awards are given for individual and team performance, and the winning school team

Art Club

Art Club is currently on hold until the Covid pandemic restrictions are lifted.

St. Ignatius School supports each child’s creativity by offering the opportunity to participate in Art Club. The club is open to students in fifth through eighth grades. Art Club meets officially once a month, with occasional additional impromptu recess meetings to allow additional time to work on projects as needed.

Students in first through eighth grade can join the St. Ignatius Chess Club.  Chess is a great game that can be enjoyed for an entire lifetime!  Club members can join as beginners and learn the game through the club.

St. Ignatius students participate in Missoula Children’s Theater Company once a year.  Our students spend many hours preparing for the culminating performances.

Surgeon’s Club

Surgeon’s Club is an afterschool activity focusing on the anatomy of specific animals. This club is an introduction to dissection and a great resource for exploration. This club is open to 6th, 7th and 8th graders, with a maximum of 20 students.

Tiger Strong

Tiger Strong is your ultimate destination for strength and conditioning, catering to all 4th-8th grade students. Led weekly before school by Mr. Peterson and Mrs. Romo, we offer a blend of evidence-based drills, games, and activities targeting strength, speed, agility, and conditioning. Club members have shown remarkable improvements in FitnessGRAM testing scores during PE and a performance boost across various sports. With Tiger Strong, it’s about having a blast, forging friendships, and unleashing your full potential while working hard.
