Inspiration, Aspiration, and Imagination
The Arts in the Jesuit Tradition Delivered by Fr. Tom Lucas, S.J.

From its earliest moments in 16th century Rome, the Society of Jesus has championed and used the arts as fundamental elements in its strategic toolkit. St. Ignatius’s teachings in the Spiritual Exercises underscore creative use of the imagination as a means to encounter God’s revelation in our material world.

Fr. Lucas has had a distinguished career as a university professor of Art and Art History at USF and Seattle U. He has lectured at more than twenty universities and high schools in half a dozen countries, and is a liturgical artist, designer, and restoration consultant with an international portfolio.
