Annual Fund FAQ’s

What is the Annual Fund?

In keeping with our commitment to the vision of St. Ignatius, our school charges a tuition less than the true cost of education to all students. This results in a deficit, which is made up through gifts to the Annual Fund and other fundraising efforts.

The largest source of non-tuition income is the Annual Fund Campaign.  This fund drive kicks off in the fall with a direct solicitation.  Throughout the school year, Annual Fund money is received from parents, grandparents, alumni, friends, faculty, staff, business and corporations.

The Annual Fund supplements our parent fundraisers and assists in meeting the ordinary and sometimes extraordinary costs of operating our school.

Every child, every family at St. Ignatius Parish School benefits from a successful Annual Fund campaign.

How is the money used?

Tuition is the primary source of revenue at SI; however, tuition alone does not cover the full cost of providing our outstanding program and retaining our creative and dedicated faculty.  Tuition pays for the basics, and the Annual Fund pays for the extras that distinguish a St. Ignatius education.  As parents, we have made a commitment to a high-quality, independent education for our children, and that commitment has a cost.

The Annual Fund helps with the following:

¨Improved security
¨New textbooks
¨State of the art technology lab
¨Interactive Smart Boards in the classrooms
¨Aides in each of the classrooms
¨Faculty with Advanced Degrees
¨100% of graduates accepted to the high school of their choice
¨Full Day Kindergarten
¨Transitional Kindergarten
¨Pre-school
Specialized Instructors:
¨Advanced Math in 7th grade
¨Algebra in 8th grade
¨Art
¨Computers/Technology
¨P.E.
¨Science for both Primary and Secondary level
¨Spanish
Extracurricular Activities
¨Academic Decathlon
¨Magis Service Club
¨Athletics
¨Robotics

Why not just raise the tuition?

If tuition were raised to the actual cost of education, this approach would place too large of a burden on parents, and would make it impossible for many of our children to have the opportunity to receive an education at St. Ignatius.

Is there a tax advantage if I make a gift?

All contributions are fully tax deductible as charitable gifts to the extent provided by law.

Donations to the Annual Fund are tax deductible, tuition is not.

What should I give?

Every gift is greatly appreciated, and every gift matters!  Every gift – no matter the amount ($1000, $100, $10) – makes a difference!

Do I have to pay all at once?

No, we will gladly set up a payment plan for you!  Your donation payments can be spread out over several months.

In fact, you can even charge your donation on your MasterCard or Visa.

What is Pastor’s Circle Membership?

Donors whose Annual Giving gifts to St. Ignatius Parish School total $2,000 and above, and are paid during the fiscal year (July 1 – June 30), will be recognized as members of the Pastor’s Circle.  These donors will be invited to the Pastor’s Dinner which will be held during the summer.
