Accelerated 7th Grade Math and Algebra 1

St. Ignatius Parish School recognizes that some of our middle school students are ready for additional enrichment in mathematics and therefore offer two possibilities: 7th-grade Accelerated Math and Algebra 1 in 8th grade.

Students in the 7th grade Accelerated Math class have the opportunity to explore topics more deeply and abstractly than the traditional 7th-grade level class.  Seventh grade Accelerated Math students have mastered all of the 7th and 8th grade Common Core Mathematics Standards by the end of the year.

The curriculum taught in our high school level Algebra 1 course contains basic foundations of algebra including the following:  solving equations and inequalities, interpreting graphs, polynomials, factoring, rational expressions and equations, systems of equations, radical expressions, and equations, quadratic equations, and functions.  After completion of this course, students have the opportunity to challenge the Algebra 1 course at their future high school, thereby beginning their freshman year in a sophomore-level mathematics course.
