Pack 225 recruitment message

The local Cub Scout group, Pack 225 which usually meets at Our Lady of the Assumption Parish School and St. Ignatius is recruiting kids of all ages to join the Pack. I understand that the idea of adding a new virtual activity can be challenging. I wanted to take some time to go over the basics of scouting and answer some questions parents have when considering a new activity for their child.

• What it is: Cub Scouting is fun for the whole family.  It’s fun, hands-on learning and achievement that puts kids in the middle of the action and prepares them for today – and for life.
More Information: https://www.scouting.org/programs/cub-scouts/

• Age Groups: Cub Scouts is for elementary school kids and is divided along the following age groups:
o Kindergarten-Lion
o 1st Grade-Tiger
o 2nd Grade- Wolf
o 3rd Grade- Bear
o 4th Grade- Webelos I
The different grades/ranks are known as “Dens.” A kid can enter Cub Scouts at any grade.

• Time Commitment: Each month, there is:
o 1 Den Meeting (30 mins- 45 mins): These will be virtual, and a limited number may be outdoors and socially distanced.

Parents of Kindergarten & 1st grade scouts are partners with their child and attend meetings together and go on activities together.

• Cost:
o $120 Registration fee for the school year
o $10-$20: Book and parent materials
o $30 Uniforms (shirt, hat, etc.)

• Fundraising
o None required, the Pack’s registration fee covers the expenses not listed above for the school year.

I know you may have other questions beyond these.  Please feel free to e-mail me at scoutpack225@gmail.com.
